Article 12 of the Company Law of China clearly stipulates that the business scope of a company is regulated by its articles of association and registered according to law. A company may amend its articles of association and change its business scope, but it shall go through the registration of change. Items within the company's business scope that must be approved according to laws and administrative regulations shall be approved according to law.

An enterprise that changes its business scope shall apply to the enterprise registration authority for registration of change within 30 days from the date when the enterprise makes the resolution or decision to change its business scope. If it involves a licensed business item, it shall apply to the enterprise registration authority for registration of change with the approval document and certificate within 30 days from the date of approval by the examination and approval authority.
